Martha “Martie” Gerecke, MA, LPC, NCC

Bio and Therapeutic Approach
Martie is a nationally certified and licensed professional counselor who is passionate about helping individuals create meaningful, lasting change. She holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Spring Arbor University and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Addictions Counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Counseling/Psychology from Rochester College, where her studies also included a concentration in biblical studies. While her training includes a biblical perspective, Martie works with clients from all backgrounds and respects each person’s individual beliefs and values.
Martie uses an integrative approach that recognizes the connection between mind and body, understanding that emotional experiences often show up both psychologically and physically. Her approach to therapy is thoughtful, practical, and tailored to each client. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and other evidence-based practices, she helps clients understand how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact—while also increasing awareness of how stress and experiences are held in the body.
Treatment focuses on helping clients identify patterns, build emotional regulation skills, and develop realistic, effective strategies for change. Martie may also incorporate mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and reflective practices such as journaling to support continued growth both in and outside of sessions.
Therapy is a collaborative and empowering process. You are the expert on your own life, and sessions are guided by your goals and priorities. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, attachment-related issues, codependency, or relationship challenges, Martie provides a supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore, process, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Jess Gerecke, Office Manager

Bio
I’m the office manager at Life Pathways Counseling and Coaching LLC, where I help support the day-to-day operations of our small therapy practice. I work closely with Martie, our owner and therapist, and Sue, who handles billing, to keep everything running smoothly.
I’m often the first person clients connect with, whether it’s by phone or when scheduling an appointment. I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, so I do my best to make the process feel simple, comfortable, and welcoming from the start.
In a small office like ours, I help with a little bit of everything, and I’m glad to be part of a team that supports people on their path toward healing and growth.
